Well it appears Peter is on his way to Pompy to meet up with Harry Rednapp again. The Official site said today that he was in talks and that Liverpool had made a gentlemans agreement to sell him. The final figure is yet to be announced but it is likely to be between £10-£11 million. I’ve always had mixed opinions about Crouch but i am really going to miss the lanky lad. He’s done a good job for us and scored some fantastic goals. He’s a great character and a nice feller. I wish him all the best luck for his future and hope that he doesn’t bang some in past us! Well in Crouchie, and adios!

Transfer Saga

Ok every year we become involved in a saga and normally end up by not getting the player. The Simao saga went on for months and months only to drop it and get Pennant. I really hope Gareth Barry becomes a Liverpool player but not for these rediculous prices being branded around. I’m sorry but 18 Mil is far too much. This will mean we’l have to leave out other targets we want. Liverpool will challenge for the title if we bring in 2 or 3 real quality players. Players like Villa, Queresma and Silva would be perfect. If we get Barry then great, but i just dont think the amount being spent on him is worth it given his age. I cant comment on the two players we have brought in already as i have never seen either of them play. Come on LFC, give the fans some real quality players to challenge Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal!

Fernando Torres

This season has been all about one man! Fernando Torres. It now looks like we have to put up with not only Gerrard being bid for every season, but Fernando also. Chelsea have made their 40 mill offer public yesterday. We laughed it off as you would expect. My first thought’s are that Torres would never move in the next couple of years. If he wanted the Chelsea money then he would have gone their last year instead of taking a pay cut to join us. Sometimes its not just about the money, and thats they way i wish the premier league was. But sadly its just not the case. You have to laugh at Didier Drogba coming out again expressing how much he wishes to get away from Chelsea. You just cant throw money at players and expect them to be happy for more than a couple of years. Lets hope Fernando doesn’t turn out to be like that. He has the chance to be a true Liverpool legend and be worshipped by the worlds greatest fans. I am very jelous!

Typical Final Day

Well today brings a close to a very up and down season for us. Like most seasons we’re playing for nothing in the Premiership on the last day and have had another good run in Europe. I can’t figure out if im happy with this season or not. After the first couple of months i was pretty sure we had what it took to win the title. However, the mid season Liverpool blip kicked in and before we knew it, we had to battle for fourth. I still think more positives have come from this season then negatives. The arrival of Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel seems to be getting there and Martin Skrtel looks a very good prospect. Also our reserve team dominated their league as our young talents took another step up from the two time youth cup winning team. As for today, i hope we can finish the season with a good performance and maybe show a few of the kids who have been so inspirational for the reserve winning side. Come on Red Men!!

Sammy Lee heads back to Liverpool as assistant manager

RAFA BENITEZ wants to make Sammy Lee his new assistant manager.

The Reds boss is looking to move quickly to add to his backroom staff after first team coach Alex Miller quit the club to take the manager’s job at Japanese side JEF United Chiba.

Lee, who served Liverpool with distinction as a player and a coach, is at the top of Benitez’s wish list and an approach could be imminent if approved by both Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Publicly, Benitez says there are several names under consideration for the role but privately he has already decided Lee is his best man.

And having not had an assistant since Pako Ayesteran left Anfield under a cloud earlier this season, he will take the opportunity to fill that position rather than making a direct replacement for Miller.

Should Lee be appointed it will go down well with senior members of the Liverpool playing staff who are known to have enjoyed working with him in his spell as a coach during Gerard Houllier’s tenure.

In an eight-year playing career at Anfield Lee amassed a glittering array of honours that included three League titles, two European Cups and four League Cups.

An infectious enthusiasm and unquestionable commitment made him a firm crowd favourite, before injury and loss of form saw some sections of the crowd turn on him and he moved on to QPR.

After spells at Osasuna, Southampton and Bolton, Lee returned to Anfield under Graeme Souness in 1993.

He impressed as reserve team coach and in 1999 was promoted to first team coach under Gerard Houllier.

His coaching potential did not go unnoticed by those at the FA, however, and in July 2004 he left Anfield a second time to become a full-time member of the England coaching set-up.

Handed his first job as full-time manager at Bolton in March 2007, he survived just 14 games and has been out of the game since then.

On Miller’s departure Benitez said: “It is very positive news for Alex.

“This is a very good opportunity for him to coach in Japan and I want to wish Alex all the best in his new job.

“I am considering new staff for the new season. We are checking some names and will be in contact with them and see what we can do.”

Meanwhile, contrary to speculation, Liverpool have not received an offer from Inter Milan for captain Steven Gerrard.

And, as revealed in the ECHO earlier this week, the Reds have no interest in Barcelona left-back Eric Adibal.

Benitez confirmed rumours suggesting the French international is Anfield bound are totally unfounded.

He said: “I do not like to talk about players but he is not a player we are looking for.”

Well its getting to that time of the year again where Liverpool become linked with just about every player with two legs who has had a decent season. The main links so far have been:-
